Time, experience and service

Mentors & Volunteers

A patient conversation, a shared skill or help with a practical task can make a meaningful contribution. Mentors and volunteers support St. James Institute’s Catholic mission by sharing their time and experience with young adults and the team that accompanies them.

Different gifts, a shared purpose

Mentoring offers guidance and encouragement as a young adult considers their next steps. Volunteering brings skills and practical help to activities and the everyday work of the mission. Both begin with listening and working alongside our team.

Guide and encourage

Share experience in education, careers and working life. Listen to a young adult’s goals, offer practical perspective and encourage them as they develop confidence and responsibility.

Support learning and activities

Contribute to study sessions, language practice, digital skills, or creative and recreational activities. Share what you know through activities coordinated with the St. James team.

Serve in practical ways

Help with projects, shared spaces, materials, events or professional support. Skills in technology, communications, administration and other areas can also strengthen the work behind the mission.

What would you like to share?

Tell us about your interests, experience and availability. Our team can discuss current needs and a suitable way to contribute. Before an activity begins, we clarify the role, expectations and any preparation or safeguarding requirements that apply.
